Shangri La Sacred Land Legend Cabernet Sauvignon

Shangri-La

Shangri-La, derived from Shambhala in Tibetan scriptures, means "the sun and moon in one's heart" in Tibetan. It represents the ideal life and the highest realm in the hearts of Tibetan people. In 2000, Shangri-La Winery Co., Ltd. was established in the Shangri-La Green Industrial Park of Diqing, where the first vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon were planted. The Shangri-La vineyards are located at the junction of Yunnan, Sichuan, and Tibet, on the southern edge of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau in the Hengduan Mountains, at the core of the "Three Parallel Rivers" World Natural Heritage Site (Jinsha River, Nujiang River, and Lancang River).

The high-altitude vineyards of Shangri-La stretch over 300 kilometers along the banks of two rivers, scattered across 126 villages at elevations between 1,700 and 3,000 meters. Ten sub-regions have been identified within the Lancang and Jinsha River basins, where over 1,000 mu of premium small-plot vineyards have been developed to research and produce high-end wines.

Thanks to the complex microclimates, diverse soil types, varied topography, high elevation, and intense solar radiation and ultraviolet exposure throughout the year, the grapes enjoy a growing season of 180–200 days. These unique conditions endow Shangri-La wines with distinctive characteristics, earning wide recognition among wine professionals and enthusiasts alike.
